Sana Security Unveils World's First Solution to Detect and Remove Spyware Without Signatures.

Behavioral-Based Approach Protects Against Evolving Threat Models

SAN MATEO, Calif. and HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Sept. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Sana Security, Inc., a leader in threat protection software, today unveiled the latest version of Active Malware Defense Technology (Active MDT), the world's first technology to instantly detect and remove malware without the use of signatures or scanning, at the DEMOfall 2005 conference. Sana Labs investigated malicious code behaviors to create technology that provides instant and constant protection from sophisticated and evolving threats. The breakthrough technology includes the detection, classification and removal of executable pieces of spyware, adware and malware. Sana Security is among 66 debut technologies at DEMOfall, all selected for their ability to inspire the tech industry and change the ways in which people work, play and share information.

"By exploring different forms of malware, both independent and in relation to other programs, we've developed the first solution capable of protecting against threat behavior rather then relying on signatures or single-bit rules. This approach alleviates the need to have an army of coders update product signatures or rules after a new threat has been identified," said Timothy Eades, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Sana Security. "By offering proactive detection and removal capabilities for spyware, adware and malware, organizations can be confident that their employees will be safer from the latest threats."

Sana Security offers proactive security solutions that automatically detect, classify and respond to complex evolving threats. Active MDT v.2 offers an alternative to traditional anti-virus solutions by completely eliminating malware, making it impossible for it to mutate itself and attempt exploitation again. Furthermore, Active MDT v.2 is continuous protection, keeping up with malware, which changes and updates over time. Sana evaluated the complexities in IT environments and explored various malware characteristics to create the new technology. This technology will be available in a stand-alone product to automatically detect and remove spyware, adware and malware later this year.

"The Internet is driving much of our daily business operations, making our success reliant on constant access and secured transactions. Security plays a fundamental role in our Internet-connected world and today's technologies will help drive a more secure IT infrastructure for tomorrow," said DEMO Executive Producer Chris Shipley. "Sana's behavior-based technology is a progressive approach that stays current with the constant changes in security threats, allowing organizations to worry less about security and more about customers' service and profitability."

For 15 years, DEMO conferences have been dedicated to the discovery of big trends and useful tools in enterprise and consumer technology. At DEMOfall, hand-picked hardware and software products from across the globe will be unveiled for the first time in North America. The insider audience attending DEMO is guaranteed to go home with new insight into the future of the industry and a first-hand look at the types of companies, products and technologies that are fueling the next wave of computing.
