NSW: Second man charged over central Sydney stabbing murder

SYDNEY, April 27 AAP - Police tonight charged a second man over the Anzac Day murder of
Gulf War veteran John Hammond in central Sydney.

A police spokesman said a 20-year-old man from Punchbowl, in Sydney's south-west, had been
charged with murder and robbery.

The man was refused police bail and was due to appear in Sydney's Central Local Court
tomorrow, the spokesman said.

Police charged a 19-year-old man with malicious wounding and stealing soon after the
attack.

Mr Hammond, 30, intervened to help a young woman whose bag was snatched on busy Castlereagh
Street as she withdrew money from an ATM around 9pm on Sunday.

The highly-praised ex-serviceman was stabbed just metres from where he had earlier paraded
with thousands of other veterans celebrating Anzac Day.
