The proposal by the Department of Special Needs Education to close the Primary School at Red Cross Children's Hospital is a serious error of judgment.
The hospital's primary school has been in existence since 1956, and provides vital education to the children in hospital.
Over 18 years, I witnessed teachers reporting to the wards after breakfast, sometimes before, prepared for the morning activities of group multilevel teaching. I always felt that these tutorial groups provided the best quality education that the child would receive in his/her entire primary school career.
